Staff Selection Commission
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 to fill approximately 12,256 Group B and Group C vacancies across various central government ministries, departments, constitutional bodies, statutory bodies and tribunals. Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply. Posts offer pay scales ranging from Pay Level 4 (₹25,500) to Pay Level 8 (₹47,600). The online application window is open from 21 May 2026 to 22 June 2026. The Tier-I examination is tentatively scheduled for August–September 2026 and Tier-II for December 2026.

- *ESM (Ex-Servicemen) reservation is applicable for Group C posts only.
- *Women candidates are encouraged to apply — Government aims for a gender-balanced workforce.
Eligibility
Educational Qualification
Educational Qualifications required as on 01 August 2026:
- **Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer:** Any graduation from a recognized university. CA / CMA / CS / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / Masters in Business Economics is an added advantage (desirable, not mandatory).
- **Junior Statistical Officer (JSO):** Graduation in any subject with minimum 60% marks in Mathematics at Class 12 level — OR — Graduation with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
- **Statistical Investigator Grade-II:** Graduation must be in Statistics / Mathematics / Economics / Computer Science / IT / Data Science / AI / Demography / Population Studies / Operations Research / Computer Application.
- **All Other Posts:** Graduation in any stream from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Final year students can also apply — but must complete graduation by 01 August 2026.
- Degrees from Open & Distance Learning (ODL / correspondence) are valid — provided the university and programme are approved by the UGC Distance Education Bureau for the relevant period.
- Candidates with equivalent qualifications must carry an Equivalence Certificate from the competent authority at the time of Document Verification.
- Nationality: Must be an Indian Citizen. Subjects of Nepal / Bhutan and persons of Indian origin who have migrated from specified countries (Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam) with intent to permanently settle in India are also eligible — subject to eligibility certificate from Government of India.
- Only male candidates are eligible for vacancies in the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), if any.
Age Limit
Age limits as on 01 August 2026:
- 18–27 years: Auditor, Accountant, Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, Tax Assistant, UDC/SSA (Group C posts)
- 18–30 years: Inspector IT, Inspector Posts, AEO, Sub Inspector NIA, ASO (IB, MEITY, Other Ministries)
- 20–30 years: ASO in CSS / Railways / MEA / AFHQ, Sub Inspector CBI
- 18–32 years: Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)
- SC / ST: 5 years relaxation
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation
- PwBD (General): 10 years relaxation
- PwBD (OBC): 13 years relaxation
- PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years relaxation
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years relaxation after deduction of military service rendered
- Central Govt Civilian Employees (Group C): Relaxation up to 40 years (45 years for SC/ST) with minimum 3 years regular service
- Widows / Divorced Women (not remarried): Up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST)

Selection Process
How to Apply
- 1Step 1: Visit the official SSC website https://ssc.gov.in or download the mSSC mobile app from Google Play Store
- 2Step 2: Complete fresh One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website — old ssc.nic.in OTR is NOT valid
- 3Step 3: Opt for Aadhaar-based authentication during OTR for smoother processing (photo/signature norms relaxed for Aadhaar-authenticated candidates)
- 4Step 4: Login and fill the online application form carefully
- 5Step 5: Capture a live photo through the portal/app — do NOT upload a pre-existing photograph
- 6Step 6: Upload scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format — size 10 to 20 KB — dimensions 6.0 cm (width) × 2.0 cm (height)
- 7Step 7: Pay application fee online via BHIM UPI / Net Banking / Visa / Mastercard / Maestro / RuPay Debit Card (if applicable)
- 8Step 8: Preview all details carefully before final submission
- 9Step 9: Submit application before 22 June 2026 (23:00 hrs) and save printout for at least 3 years
- 10Step 10: If correction needed — use the Correction Window from 29 June to 01 July 2026 (correction charges applicable)
